Newt Gingrich is smart, a visionary and completely unfit to be President.

While someone could write a book with all the reasons Newt shouldn’t be President, this story is one simple example:

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is hitting rival Mitt Romney in a new ad, with a voice-over that says at one point, “just like John Kerry, he speaks French, too.”

Are you kidding me?  That has to be the weakest, most pathetic line I have ever seen in a political ad.

Especially when you consider this:

Gingrich’s 1971 dissertation – “Belgian Education Policy in the Congo 1945-1960” — contains a multitude of sources in French in his bibliography.

In total, Gingrich relied upon 143 French-language sources to write his dissertation — including 18 “public documents,” 90 books, 33 published articles and 2 unpublished documents.

How do you say “go away” in French?

This was an email from a Senate staffer following a debate in the Senate Finance Committee mark-up of the health care bill.  Classic.

Senator Kerry just went on about the outrageous profits of health insurers who dominate the market and offer little choice to consumers.  That’s an interesting point considering that according to the website of Heinz ketchup, the company holds a 60 percent retail market share.  Heinz products enjoy #1 or #2 market share in more than 50 countries.  And according to Yahoo Finance, Heinz profits (8.6 percent) are more than double the health insurance industry (3.3 percent).   Government run Ketchup, anyone?

Al Gore is scheduled to appear Wednesday before Sen. John Kerry’s Foreign Relations committee to discuss the urgent need to deal with global warming.  As we say in politics, the “optics” of that won’t be very good.  You see, the forecast for the D.C. area on Wednesday calls for severe weather – including snow, ice and sleet.  It’s hard to call for urgent action on global warming with a straight face when it is freezing outside.

Now, someone will likely opine that severe weather IS a sign of global warming. Of course, the catchphrase they use now is “climate change” because they keep having this pesky problem of really cold weather when they stage these global warming events.

I just think it’s God’s sense of humor.
