Just to prove that politics is interesting, Rick Santorum has risen from the ashes and swept three primary/caucus contests yesterday in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri.

From a delegate count standpoint, it is a pretty meaningless day – but now the supposed two-man race between Romney and Gingrich has shifted to Romney and Santorum.

As I wrote after the South Carolina primary, Romney shouldn’t panic.  With Michigan and Arizona coming up at the end of the month, Romney should be riding the momentum of two solid wins going into Super Tuesday.

The best news coming out of last night is the crushing defeats for Gingrich in Minnesota and Colorado (he wasn’t on the ballot in Missouri).  Gingrich is done.

Congratulations to Santorum.  He now gets a chance to prove whether he can translate wins into a real campaign.

Gingrich will take this as his opportunity to quit. His ego won’t let him give up to Romney but now he can pretend to be a martyr and make room for Santorum.

You’re gonna be sorry you got what you wished for. Romney won’t win the general election.

It’s about time Santorum got into the fray at the top – He should have gotten the opportunity to capialize on his win over Romney in Iowa, but the miscount stole that opportunity from him then.

He deserves this – he has worked hard, not gotten credit for his upset win in Iowa and it is time for him to show his mettle as a conservative against the moderate Romney.

I hope he can make the shift to the center for the General as slickly as Romney has shifted right for the primary. It will be nice to see a true and long standing conservative go one on one with Romney. I believe he can pull an actual majority under those circumstances.

Romney has hurt his credibility with all the negative ads against Newt, but it was effective. He got what he wanted, Newt is out of the way.

What he also got is a one on one with a conservative who is well versed on the issues. Ooops! Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for…
