It isn’t exactly “Drill, Baby, Drill” but Obama’s decision to allow some offshore drilling in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico is a step in the right direction. He is also allowing some drilling off Alaska’s shoreline, while shutting off drilling in other areas of Alaska.

This was the second good move by Obama in the last few days. His surprise visit to Afghanistan was not just good, it was great. The troops needed the morale boost and Obama was right to firmly plant the flag on our offensive to root out terrorist in the region.

The President deserves our praise when he does the right thing, and in these two cases, he did.

Thump! (That was me falling out of my chair).

The folks who send the US Army abroad would do well to ponder John Adams on an American and not an Internationalist foreign policy:

“But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.”

Right thing? re: The military. This comes with the job. Sneak in the dark at night, safe place, enough flak jacket on to protect an Abram’s tank then sneak out? He is a joke.
During the VN thing I can remember when Johnson came in to save the day. He got so drunk that two men had to carry him out of the Officer’s Club. That is a fact Jack.

Listen, guys, he’s already taken most of the offshore sites off the list, as well as Alaska. How small a gesture does he have to make before we see it as the Obama version of Clinton’s triangulation. Call it Obamulation. He’s not channeling anyone useful. As to that things-that-go-bump-in-the-night tour of A-stan, gimme a break. At night, including a couple of hours with Karzai and company, the WAPO view of it as a “thief in the night” visit. Weak tea as messaging to allies, enemies and observers…

Sorry, Sean, no kudos to BHO for his offshore drilling announcement. It’s a bait and switch. He’s throwing a very small bone to the public, while refusing to allow the necessary exploration and drilling to make us truly energy independent. If he was serious (and he’s not on many levels), he would allow ANWAR to be drilled, more offshore drilling than this pittance, and allow exploration and mining of our interior shale. That would be a statement and deserving of praise.
