Politicians cross the line of civil debate on a pretty regular basis – so I usually ignore it as typical. However, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) goes completely over the top in what would be shouted down as outrageous had a Republican uttered the words.

Equating Republican attempts to slow the process down on healthcare reform to those who didn’t want to abolish slavery is completely and utterly out of line. Every descendent of slavery is owed an apology from Mr. Reid.

He should also apologize posthumously to Strom Thurmond for forgetting his role in fighting the Civil Rights Act…

When I saw this, Reid reminded me of Senator Joseph McCarthy who indicted everyone who disagreed with him. Messaging-wise, why do we Republicans continue to allow our backs to be thrown up agaisnt the wall? Will we ever get away from our perpetually impotent reaction mode? When we will lead from the FRONT by taking the initiative to project OUR message on OUR own terms to start winning OUR message wars?
