The future of the Republican Party is the ability to engage the fairer half (or more) of the voting electorate. The Dodie Londen Excellence in Public Service Series is a training program for Republican women that gives them the tools to be more engaged in the political scene. They are trained in public speaking, policy, campaigning, new media, etc.
I was invited to discuss the use of new media – in particular “social media” – in advancing the cause of Republican women. It was great fun, and I’m hopeful that they actually learned something from the 45 minutes I took from their day. The great thing about doing the session was seeing the great diversity in ages of these women who are taking the time to learn how to get more engaged. I would guess (and it’s only a guess, since I’m terrible at guessing the age of women) that they spanned four+ decades.
They asked great questions and had real enthusiasm for getting “plugged in.” Watch for more and more women getting engaged in the political debate on blogs, facebook, twitter and ning.
The future looks bright.
