I’m just happy that Toomey’s campaign will be able to save its money for the general election now. It would have been wasted beating Specter in the primary.

If I were a Republican I would be happy to see Arlen Specter leave the party. He obviously is a less than exemplary example of what the Republican Party holds as principled positions. His choice to join the Democrat Party means that he hasn’t felt like a Republican in some time. 40 Republicans you can trust beats 41 Republicans of whom you can probably trust 38-40. At least this allows people to know who is who. Perhaps the Democrats can persuade John McCain to join them, now that would make for an interesting 2010 election hey?
