The Blago scandal is the gift that keeps on giving to reporters and bloggers.  Now we learn that Senator Roland Burris lied about his contact with Blago representatives prior to his appointment to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama.  It turns out Burris was talking to Blago’s brother about raising money for Blagojevich.  Upon that revelation we get this quote from Illinois Democratic State Representative Jack Franks, “What a mess. What a nightmare. If [Burris] cares about the state as much as he professes, he would resign now.”

I agree. Burris should resign forthwith.

Don’t you think Burris is only further damaging his reputation by staying? I don’t understand why he isn’t leaving before things get worse. But I guess I don’t think like a corrupt politician.

This is unbelievable. These people are despicable. Contrary to what Obama promised, I’m seeing nothing that isn’t “politics as usual”…or even dirtier than usual!

It’s time for him to go. I get upset because so many of these guys take us for fools, but we continue to let them into office and prove them right. I’m less upset about the fact that he raised money for Blago, then the fact that he lied about it. You’re crazy to think that a guy receiving an appointment such as this has never helped out the guy doling out the appointment, but at least be forthcoming and let us view this process through a clear lense.
